Objectives

  • Understand practical strategies for developing rapport with athletes using empathy and respecting autonomy.
  • Provide examples of effective motivational interviewing techniques for behavior change within the athletic setting.
  • Identify common roadblocks to implementing these strategies in the Athletics setting and suggest creative approaches to overcome these.

Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (Accredited Provider CP294) is approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to provide continuing education to Registered Dietitians. This program is eligible for 1.0 CPEU.
